My great great grandmother's mother was Cornelia Gardner, according to family records and death certificates. For the last 20 years I have been trying to figure out how she connects. I believe I found the answer. Research led me to the information below, but shared DNA with Trahern descendants and multiple Gardner's does seem to confirm it. (Note, this is not including descendants of Jeremiah Gardner and Sarah Hall as they are relatives on the Trahern side (Sarah Hall is the Aunt of Sarah Hall who married James Trahern).
Samuel (Sam Gardner), son of John Gardner and Alatoma in 1855 had wife Mary and a family in Towson. In 1868, his family includes another daughter (under 16) and a male age 10-16 without a wife. In 1868/1869 he married Isabelle Durant and had one more child, a son Basil Gardner born in 1869.
By the time of the Dawes, Samuel has died, as has all his children, except Basil.
The children I have for Samuel Gardner and wife Mary are:
Nancy Gardner born about 1849, she was not alive at the time of the dawes, and it is unknown if she married.
Loring Nolen Gardner born about 1851. He had son Pittman Gardner b 1873 and two daughters, Surena Gardner b 1880 who married John Wright, Wesley Phillips and Jimmie Coleman, and Millie Gardner who died before 1899. The mother of the girls was Mary Yale.
Sissy Gardner who was on the 1855 Annuity role is not listed in the household in 1868. She either died or married and if she did marry, was not alive by 1899.
Cornelia Gardner born about 1860 married Robert Trahern. Cornelia died in 1892. She had Admona (Addie), Margaret, Czarina (Rena), Loren, Martha and William Trahern.
The child of Samuel and Isabelle was Basil Gardner married Mary Ann Baker and had Edmond, Jefferson L, Laura Jane, Etta May, Adam Arrie, Sarah and Josephine Gardner.
As a side note, Clarissa Leflore cannot be the wife of Jeremiah Gardner
as his son marries her daughter. There is an error in an old interview
on that item. Sarah Hall, the sister of William Hall (married Susan
Riddle) and Margaret Hall (married John Ring and A.W. Geary) was married
to Jeremiah Gardner in Marengo County, Alabama June 21, 1818. Jerry
Gardner is found near the Hall's on the Armstrong roll. We do not know
which white man named Hall is the father of these children. Of note, Margaret Hall could already read and write when she tutored girls at the missionary school in before 1825. She was significantly younger than her sister Sarah and brother William by about 7 years.

Hello! I know this post is several years old, but I was hoping maybe you could help if you happen to see my comment. Within our family, we know we are part Choctaw from our Gardner side (I think they were from Itawamba, Mississippi who then moved to Wister, Le Flore, Oklahoma). I haven't been able to figure out how we are related to the other Gardners that came over. Our ancestors chose not to sign up on the rolls, so I know we will never get on the rolls, and that's ok, but I would like to know more about that side of my family. Any hints on researching this? I see so much information and don't know where to start, so any tips or information would be greatly appreciated!
